Economic Losses in the World Resulted from Stress
In the European Union, losses from stress are estimated at Euro 44 billion per year. This includes expenses to cover 280 million lost working days, psychotherapists' fees and sick leaves.
In the USA, losses amount to US $ 320 billion a year, including US $ 1.4 billion for lost working days.
Stress factors, aggravated by COVID 19, can lead to all-round serious illness, heart attacks, strokes, cancer, and even lead to suicide as studies have proven. A recent WHO-led study estimates that depression and anxiety disorders cost the global economy US $ 1 trillion each year in lost productivity.
